Yes, You Should Drink the Water

Jimmy Buffet got it right when he wrote his famous song "cheeseburger in paradise" after Le Select in St. Barths. Something about the island is magical and you can't explain it, you just have to experience it.

This year was definitely a hell of a time! To start off we had 4 parties to attend in one night, including a book signing at Click Gallery by Patrick Demarchelier and Russell Simmons' party at Eden Rock, to which we had an invite (thanks Douglas!)

The weather was actually kind of crazy in SBH this year. There was some hurricane or terrible storm that caused major swells in the ocean, forcing all yachts out of the docks in Gustavia. Gustavia flooded, waves crashed into VIP Room and Amanda's Chloe shoes were in turn ruined! (Kevin's loafers have also not fit the same since!)

"Can I have 5 Caribs please? Sure, to stay or to go? TO GO!"

Notable moments from SBH 2009-2010:

1. Liz stealing us ALL of the I heart VIP Room pillow cases
<3 br="" cases="" pillow="" room="" vip="">2. Kelsey hooking up with her boyfriends good friend (unbeknownst to her)
3. Thanking Russell Simmons for his party
4. Watching the sunrise from Axel and Zareck's houses
5. Mrs. Barr laughing at me for coming home at 7am
6. Jenny's owl face
7. New Years Eve dinner with the Barr's at Tamarin
8. Indy and Fritz's burberry ties they wore to dinner at Le Toiny
9. Beyonce's performance (but Jenny not allowing us to dance to single ladies because it's like dancing to it's raining men)
10. Liz disappearing with Guenael's phone for most of NYE (are we ready for the jokes yet? too soon?)
11. Jenny sneak attacking Liz and Kevin with massive amounts of confetti
12. Our first night in SBH (Rockstar status, and no Philippe we will not give you your towels back)
13. Kelsey, does that guy have headphones on his shirt?
14. 20 of us at Casa Nikki and taking over VIP Room (best night!)
15. NYE party box
16. The guest book at our villa that was all about the ridiculous storms and hurricanes
17. Buying my amazing Nikki Beach cd (even though it was excessively overpriced)
18. Almost being taken out by all the planes flying in backwards over St. Jean beach
19. Our amazing villa and the ridiculous view of St. Jean
20. The story of Zareck's two little dogs (one a Jack Russell) running away and killing 11 sheep in one night, then passing out in the field in the middle of all the dead sheep.
21. Amanda ordering two glasses of champagne at VIP Room ($20 a piece), and getting them in regular glasses with ice. It wasn't champagne, it was sparkling water.
22. Axel asking the waitress at Baz Bar if she was having technical difficulties, in english, when clearly they are both french
23. Miguel asking Kelsey to move in with him in NY
24. Last, but DEFINITELY not least.....All the awkward turtles!!

The Hunt for the perfect dress

Now that St. Barths is in a mere 16 days (OMG!) the hunt for the perfect dress continues. I spent all day Sunday in and out of every major store in New York City (Bloomingdales, Saks, Bergdorf's, Intermix, Barney's, Calypso) just to name a few. I could not find anything that was right. It seems that whatever cruise wear the stores received, which is very minimal this year, is too dark, too Palm Beach, too New Years in NYC or just plain not what I am looking for. Does that make sense? Anyway, below are some of the dresses I tried on, and loved, but were still just not right.

Let me know what you think!

I DIE! Yup, I said it...

LOVE this dress!

The Set Up

You know your love life is pathetic when your mother is desperately trying to set you up. Seriously, I think my mother trumps anyone else when it comes to trying to find me a date, and she's not even Jewish! But, I guess an Italian mother is just as bad.

My mother is convinced that my soul mate is the weekend weather man on channel 7 news. She has even gone as far as to not only email him, but to call Michelle Charlesworth, a reporter for ABC news, to discuss how I would be perfect for him. Seriously, you can't make this up. Too bad she found out that he is now engaged.

Last week she told me that she gave my number out to two people in one day. One to a woman she just met so that she can set me up with her son and the other to her shoemaker. Yes, that's right, my mother is now having her shoemaker set me up. Apparently he wants to set me up with some physical therapists son. Keep in mind that this shoemaker has never even met me, yet he knows better than I do who would be right for me.

I think she is trying to tell me something, but I am not taking the hint.
