The Hunt for the perfect dress

Now that St. Barths is in a mere 16 days (OMG!) the hunt for the perfect dress continues. I spent all day Sunday in and out of every major store in New York City (Bloomingdales, Saks, Bergdorf's, Intermix, Barney's, Calypso) just to name a few. I could not find anything that was right. It seems that whatever cruise wear the stores received, which is very minimal this year, is too dark, too Palm Beach, too New Years in NYC or just plain not what I am looking for. Does that make sense? Anyway, below are some of the dresses I tried on, and loved, but were still just not right.

Let me know what you think!

I DIE! Yup, I said it...

LOVE this dress!

The Set Up

You know your love life is pathetic when your mother is desperately trying to set you up. Seriously, I think my mother trumps anyone else when it comes to trying to find me a date, and she's not even Jewish! But, I guess an Italian mother is just as bad.

My mother is convinced that my soul mate is the weekend weather man on channel 7 news. She has even gone as far as to not only email him, but to call Michelle Charlesworth, a reporter for ABC news, to discuss how I would be perfect for him. Seriously, you can't make this up. Too bad she found out that he is now engaged.

Last week she told me that she gave my number out to two people in one day. One to a woman she just met so that she can set me up with her son and the other to her shoemaker. Yes, that's right, my mother is now having her shoemaker set me up. Apparently he wants to set me up with some physical therapists son. Keep in mind that this shoemaker has never even met me, yet he knows better than I do who would be right for me.

I think she is trying to tell me something, but I am not taking the hint.

Pick Me a Winner

My best friend from college, Jenny, is home in CT for the long holiday weekend. Her boyfriend Tony is the sweetest guy ever. Listen to this: He is staying at his friend Steve's house for the night. In preparation for her arrival, the two of them are baking Jenny's mother pies, PIES for Thanksgiving! How freaking adorable is that? What guy do you know that would do something like that? Not many, I can tell you that much.

Now, herein lies my question. How come you have to live in LA in order to meet a great guy in NYC? I swear it is damn near impossible....maybe it's because all the girls in LA are sweeping them up! Or could it be that there are just none left? God, I hope not. This just may have reaffirmed my desire to move to California.

Am I wrong?

Rugby 101

No, I do not play Rugby, but I did used to work for Ralph Lauren Rugby. A few years back I dragged the employees of Rugby in New Canaan to Waveny Park to do a photo shoot. Some were thrilled (Kevin), and others are still convinced they were born to be models (Preston).

Below are some of my favorites from the shoot.

Iomoi

I recently came across this website, thanks to www.Luckymag.com, that I am totally and completely obsessed with. www.iomoi.com has the cutest personalized items for everything from stationery to pillows. There are so many different designs to choose from for each item that I cannot simply pick one. I have been looking at this website for days now and I seriously want everything.

I have become obsessed with decorating my new apartment and I am always looking for new odds and ends to fill it with. I am loving their lucite trays to put on top of my coffee table, which is actually a vintage trunk, but i cannot chose which one i like best. They are all so adorable! http://iomoi.stores.yahoo.net/trays.html

I am also loving their canvas pillows! I am totally digging the pink skull and the ling. They would look perfect on my tan couch. http://iomoi.stores.yahoo.net/section-05.html

They also have tons of great gift ideas for the holidays!

Are you as obsessed as I am?

Bonjour!

Ok, no I am not French (unfortunately), but I am preparing for our "annual" new years trip to St. Barth's, French West Indies. In order to prepare I have been trying to freshen up on my french (which, by the way, I took in school from 5th grade-10th grade). One would think that I would at least remember the most basic grammar and words, but lo and behold my memory has failed me yet again. I am currently listening to Hotel Costes, "Summer in Paris" for inspiration, but it is just making me want to actually summer in Paris (go figure!).

So, I totally scored this fabulous straw Panama hat off the giveaway table at work, which happens to be just what I was in the market for. I keep wearing it around my apartment, with my new found beachy wavy hair, almost impossible for us curly haired folk, but thanks to the Brazilian straightening (my savior) I now have that almost perfect, but messed up in just the right way, I didn't actually spend any time on my hair, this is just how I wake up every morning hair. Anyway, I am so excited to wear it on the beach that I am actually walking around my apartment pretending I am on Saline beach with actual beach hair (34 days!) God, my roommate probably thinks I am nuts. Clearly I need a vacation.....

This year I am going to go for a total Brigitte Bardot french beach look, you know, being on a french speaking island and all it seems only appropriate.

Here are some of my Brigitte Bardot style inspirations:

Next up... the gym!!
